Terms of use
Last updated 5 November 2026
1. Who we are
HULA (Hub for Unified Leaderboards & Assessment) is operated by the Parker Jones Neural Processing Lab at the University of Oxford (“we”). Competitions are organised by their hosts — sometimes us, sometimes other researchers — who set the task, data, rules and prizes.
2. Your account
- One account per person. Keep your password and API tokens secret; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information. Your display name, username and affiliation are public; your email address is not shown publicly.
- You can delete your account at any time from your settings.
3. Joining a competition
To join a competition you accept its rules. Joining also means the competition's hosts can see your email address and may contact you about that competition — for example about verification of results, prizes, workshops or important changes. You can leave a competition at any time.
4. Fair play
- Don't use multiple accounts, or share code or predictions privately outside your team, unless the competition rules allow it.
- Don't try to obtain test labels, probe the scoring system, or work around submission limits.
- Code you submit to code competitions must not attempt to attack, abuse or escape the sandbox, access other people's data, or misuse network access (e.g. for spam, scraping that violates others' terms, or mining).
- Be respectful in the discussion. Hosts may moderate posts; we may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms.
Hosts may disqualify teams that break the rules, and decide final standings and prizes in line with their competition rules.
5. Data and content
- Competition data is provided by the hosts under the licence stated in the competition. Use it only as those terms allow.
- You keep ownership of what you submit. You allow us and the competition's hosts to store, run, score and inspect your submissions (including downloading them for verification), and to show scores on leaderboards according to the competition's visibility settings.
- Posts in the discussion are visible to anyone who can see the competition.
6. The service
HULA is a research tool provided free of charge and “as is”. We work hard to keep it reliable and scores correct, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability. If something goes wrong with scoring, hosts may rescore submissions. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect losses arising from use of the service.
7. Changes
We may update these terms; we'll note the date above and, for material changes, tell you by email or on the site.
