MEG Speech Detection

Sandbox competition. Synthetic data, real platform.

Task

Binary classification: given a 0.5 s window of MEG, decide whether the participant was hearing speech or silence.

This was the first phase of LibriBrain 2025 and remains a great warm-up for the field — simple to start, surprisingly hard to max out.

Metric

F1-macro — the mean of F1(speech) and F1(silence). Ties are broken by ROC AUC.

Submissions are scored with F1-macro on the hidden labels. Provide a label column with speech or silence for every id.
